Your Monday root word of the week is: esth/aesth, which means: feeling, sensation, beauty. This Latin root appears in many English words such as: esthetician - someone who beautifies; aesthetic - pertaining to a sense of beauty; kinesthesia - the sensation of bodily movement.
QUOTE OF THE WEEK: “Success is the ability to go from one failure to another with no loss of enthusiasm.” –Sir Winston Churchill
BRAINTEASER: What four-letter word can be written forward, backward or upside down, and can still be read from left to right?
Mindful Monday Moment - That was Johnny Diaz and Breathe. This is the inspiration for your Mindful Moment of the week. As the lyrics say, “So much to do in so little time, it’s a crazy life. It’s ready, set, go it’s another wild day. When the stress is on the rise in my heart I feel you say just Breathe, just breathe.” Taking the time to slow down and find time to figuratively catch your breath and to literally work on your breathing are important aspects of mindfulness. If you are starting to feel particularly stressed out or you are having trouble focusing or calming down, try concentrating on your breathing. You can inhale and hold for a few second and exhale and hold for a few seconds. Try to clear your mind and just focus on the breathing itself and the sensation of calmness you feel. This should be a very relaxing exercise. If you are feeling overwhelmed, make sure you talk to a staff member so we can figure out how to best help you. We have your back Pelicans.
Wednesday Wellness Wish - That was NF and “Let You Down.” This is the theme of your Wednesday Wellness Wish of the week. Sometimes, there is no worse feeling that thinking and/or knowing that you let someone down or let yourself down. If you believe that you did let someone down, it’s important to address the situation rather than just let the anxiety and even anger or disappointment build up. Have a conversation with that person or group of people and start the path to reconciliation and mutual understanding. If you feel that you let yourself down, try to figure out why it happened and start to come up with strategies to avoid repeating the same thing in the future. Sometimes it is unavoidable, so what you do afterwards means a lot. Reach out to friends and staff members if you need advice on how to handle these situations. We have your back.
